Yelverton seconds v Shobrooke Park seconds

YELVERTON seconds got back to winning ways with a six wicket victory at Langton park on Saturday.

Yelverton skipper Chris Pearson won the toss and opted to field first. On a damp wicket the Shobrooke Park openers were tied down by some accurate bowling by the opening pair of Tony Carter and Dom Rushton, scoring only 24 off the first 10 overs. Chris Pearson replaced Carter and bowled unchanged for figures of 13-5-26-2 to further tie up one end, and Jez Stokes was similarly miserly, with a spell of 13 overs for only 18 runs, picking up a wicket in the process.

Andy Taylor, off the field injured for part of the innings picked up 2-11 off his three overs.

Shobrooke Park closed on 127-6 off their 46 overs. Dave Jolliffe top scored for the visitors with 23.

In reply, Yelverton's opening partnership of Taylor and Pete Garland put on 50 for the first wicket before Taylor was trapped lbw by opposing skipper Mark Goodman (1-29 off 13).

Garland went on to complete his 50 before he was fourth out with the score on 104.

Ash Phillips added a quick-fire 19 not out in partnership with Paul Farnham (5no) to see the Bohemians home on 129-4 with three overs left.
