THERE will be an open gardens event in Halwill on Sunday June14 when at least six gardens will be on view between 2pm and 6pm. All proceeds will be for the Winsford Trust community charity.

The start of the garden trail will be at the Winsford Centre in Halwill Junction, where refreshments, including cream teas, will be available and a selection of stalls set up in the garden.

The centre is a listed building which was originally a cottage hospital designed by Voysey and is, architecturally, of great interest.

There are lunch clubs held there each Tuesday and Thursday which provide a home-cooked hot meal, companionship and entertainment for the more elderly of the local community. A door to door minibus service is provided for members.

To encourage members, and other people with mobility problems, to enjoy the open gardens event, the minibus will be doing a circular tour of the gardens all afternoon.
