ST LUKE'S open garden season returns for its fifth season this month.

The season runs from March to September and offers the chance to explore 22 varied gardens across Devon and Cornwall, many of which are not normally open to the public, offering a unique and private insight into garden planning and planting schemes.

Community Fundraiser at St Luke's Hospice Plymouth, Wayne Marshall, said: 'Although the season runs for six months, it is actually an all-year round operation to plan, organise and seek out those hidden private gardens.

'I want to ensure the scheme delivers something new each year for our regular supporters and am excited to introduce eleven new gardens this year.'

The first garden for the Tavistock area will take place this Sunday, 19 April, between 2pm and 5pm at Stroll Gardens, Yelverton, which includes well manicured lawns and deep varied borders.

St Luke's open gardens last year generated a record breaking £38,500.

All money raised goes to help the hospice care for local people.
