Halwill Garden Club 'blossomed' at the inter club quiz, which also involved garden clubs from Bratton Clovelly and Bridestowe.

The event, held in the parish hall, Halwill Junction, saw teams of six from each club battle it out over eight rounds. By halfway Bridestowe were in the lead by 1.5 marks, but at the end of round seven Halwill were just half a mark ahead, it all rested on the final set of questions.

Although Bratton Clovelly had the top score in round eight it was not enough to stop Halwill being declared the winners, for the second year, by just 1.5 marks.

Quizmaster was Anne Russell, who had set the questions. The chairman of Halwill Garden Club, Jane Spencer, thanked everyone for attending and all members for their help in staging the event with a special thank you to John Hawkins for providing the sound equipment.
