THE National Gardens Scheme has helped raise £26 million for charity in the last decade — and Robin and Edwina Hill from Belstone are getting involved this year to help raise funds.

The scheme invites gardeners across the country to open up their gardens to visitors to raise funds for worthy causes. Among the recipients for donations are Macmillan Cancer Support, Help the Hospices and Marie Curie Cancer Care among other charities, and the scheme is Macmillan's biggest single donor each year.

Robin and Edwina are opening their garden, at Andrews Corner on Skaigh Lane on Sunday May 29 and Monday May 30, followed by Sunday June 5. The garden will be open from 2.30 to 5.30pm.

Entrance for adults costs £3 with children admitted for free, and there will be home-made cream teas and cakes on offer, and a plant sale.
