THE popular method of flower show judging is again being used at Meavy Garden Society Flower Show this year when visitors are offered the chance to choose the winner themselves.

On entry to the show visitors are handed a voting slip and asked to select their personal favourite entry in each class.

This used to be followed by a laborious counting session for show organisers but, thanks to some computing genius from local IT whizz Tim Lambie, this year?s votes will be processed by computer.

The show hosts 16 classes for cut flowers, shrubs, pot plants, flower arrangements, hanging baskets and vegetables with certificates going to second and third places in each section and a permanent trophy to all winners.

The show takes place at Meavy Parish Hall on Saturday August 14, starting at 1pm.

Parking is free behind the hall and entry costs 50p ? there will be a chance to buy locally-grown plants and to enter the annual flower show raffle which will be drawn at 4pm.

Light refreshments are available throughout the day and trophies will be presented at 4.30pm.
