THE weather may still feel very wintery, but Okehampton Community Garden is to 'spring' into action this weekend.

On Saturday, the community garden on Fatherford Lane will open its gates for volunteers to give the garden's spring projects an early boost in readiness for the year ahead. There will be a variety of jobs for all abilities and plenty of tea and cake as a way of showing gratitude for everyone's help.

Volunteers do not need to be members of the garden and can help for as much time as they like.

The event runs from 10.30am to 4pm.
