IF you enjoy the delights of other people's gardens then make a bee-line to the Ground Force-perfected plot of Okehampton's Paul and Pat Batten.
The Battens — whose garden had a Ground Force televised makeover two years ago — are opening the gates of 22 Simmons Way on Sunday, September 2.
There will be an entry charge of £1 — and all money collected will go to Lupus UK, a charity that funds research in diseases of the immune system, of which Pat is a sufferer.
'At the moment the garden is looking absolutely gorgeous,' she said.
'My husband has done a lot of the garden that Ground Force didn't touch — which are raised vegetable beds and a small paved seating area.'
This is the Batten's fourth fundraising open day in their garden. Two were for Devon Air Ambulance and and the last one was for the homoeopathic centre at Riverside.
'Ground Force revisited us last year. Not everybody has a Ground Force garden. It takes a lot of up-keep — I have lost one or two plants and have added more,' said Pat.
'I love my garden. I was more into growing veg because you can eat them — but I also wanted a garden you could sit in. Ground Force came along and did this and it is absolutely cracking.'
The garden is open on September 2 from 10am to 5pm. The location will have a Ground Force notice displayed on the front gate.
