Bude Colts 8 Tavistock Colts 8 THE match was played in perfect conditions ? dry, cool and a little wind. This should have been a fast open game but the referee had other ideas and it became a stop start affair to neither team?s benefit. The Tavistock players made a lot of unnecessary handling errors from the new look back line and there was a lack of concentration from the pack. After several penalties in the first 10 minutes Tavistock received one near the posts which Andrew Smerdon converted to give them a lead 3-0. Tavistock were then awarded a similar penalty but failed to convert. On the 20 minutes Bude were awarded a penalty for Tavistock offside which they converted. The game never really got going with so many stoppages but Tavistock pushed for the line and a try by Josh O?Neil was unsighted and the visitors failed to score from the five metre scrum so the score remained at 3-3 at half time. The first part of the second half Tavistock played on the attack which forced Bude into some panic passing which fly half Mark Webber intercepted and scored under the post but again Tavistock failed to convert. Tavistock went back on the attack with some fresh legs now in place but missed a chance for an easy catch and drive and Bude cleared their line. Bude came back well in the last quarter and scored a good try to equalise.
