Royal Oak U15s

Tavistock Town 0

Horrabridge Rangers 1

THIS could easily have been a comfortable win but for hard work in the Tavistock central areas.

The game was played in a strong wind and Horrabridge took advantage of it in the first half.

This local derby was stop-start with many little infringements stopping the flow of a game which could have been a classic.

In the second half Horrabridge pounded the Tavistock goal but the defence and keeper were inspired to stop them.

The Horrabridge goalkeeper had very little to do in the half, as Tavistock could not stop the onslaught of the Bridge?s attack. This paid off close to time when Matthew Gaden beat the offside trap and finished a well worked and much delayed winner.

Tavistock Thistles 1

Activate 2

ON a windy day which made for difficult conditions, Thistles gave a good account of themselves before going down to Activate who move up to fifth place in the league.

Activate started brightly and began to have the majority of possession but were unable to create many clear cut chances.

Thistles, with Gary Toms and Darren Phillips, looked threatening whenever the ball was played forward, and were creating one or two chances. Jack Yeo went close with a superb shot following a good run down the left wing.

Activate continued to press but were finding it difficult to break down the Thistles? defence with the outstanding Steven Lake, ably assisted by Joseph Busuttil.

Midway through the half Activate?s pressure paid off when they scored the first goal of the game.

Thistles continued to battle away and were unlucky not to equalise through Toms who was proving to be a handful for the visitors? defence.

The game followed the same pattern in the second half with Activate having most of the possession but Thistles still creating chances. Activate took advantage of a lapse in concentration in the home defence to lead 2-0.

With a quarter of an hour to go the game began to swing back in favour of the home side with Paul Gibbings and Andrew Wallace winning more ball in midfield and substitute Adam Stephens stretching the Activate defence with strong runs down the right.

Following a good move down the left wing the ball was crossed into the box for Phillips to pounce to make it 2-1.

The final ten minutes saw Thistles mount a series of attacks in search of the equaliser and despite having to defend several corners, Activate hung on for the three points.
