DUKE’S Coffee House in Tavistock is hosting a fundraising event this Saturday as part of Aplastic Anaemia Awareness Day.

Aplastic anaemia is a rare blood disorder in which a person’s bone marrow stops producing any cells. Treatment is by antithymocyte globulin (ATG) — an infusion of horse or rabbit-derived antibodies against human T cells — for patients with no direct bloodline brothers or sisters or a stem cell transplant through the Anthony Nolan Trust donor list.

At the event between 10am and 2pm there will be leaflets on aplastic anaemia and the Anthony Nolan Trust available and a cake sale, lucky dip and book sale.
