SOUTH Tawton's parish celebrations for the Queen's Golden Jubilee begin with the youngest members of the community holding a fun afternoon at the primary school today (Thursday.)
Everyone will be dressed in red, white and blue and weather permitting, lunch will be on the field ahead of an afternoon of sports and activities.
The Kings Arms will be serving up a Jubilee Sunday Roast on June 2 which will be followed by a garden party with a sing-song, musicians including Ron Hurst's Dixieland Six and a barbecue in the evening.
Celebrations organised by the Parish Council take over on June 3 with a thanksgiving service at St Andrews Church, South Tawton at 11am and in the afternoon attention turns to the Recreation Ground where a tea party is planned and there will be games, music and storytelling.
A hog roast, bonfire and firework display will take place later in the day. v
