MEADOWLANDS Leisure Pool was the venue for a day of splashingly good fun last week as competitiors took to the water in the Tavistock and Area Inter-schools Swimming Gala.
The event was organised by four AVCE Sport and Recreation students from Plymouth College of Further education who kept the day running smoothly with the aid of West Devon Borough Council?s sports development officer Tammy Messenger.
Primary schools taking part in the gala were Bere Alston, Gulworthy, Horrabridge, Mary Tavy and Brentor, Meavy, Milton Abbot, St Andrew?s Walkhampton, Whitchurch and Tavistock.
The day went swimmingly well and everyone was thrilled at its success.
Deputy Mayor of West Devon Borough Council, presenting the trophies, said: ?All the children have been marvellous competitors, they thoroughly enjoyed themselves ? and so did I!?
The overall winner?s trophy went to Tavistock Primary while Milton Abbot Primary received the Small Schools Cup.
Horrabridge Primary earned the fair play award for team spirit and sporting attitude.
