A WIDE range of exciting activities were on offer in Okehampton last weekend, at a day of fun for West Devon children aged 11 and over and their families. The FLAG Activities Day was held at Okehampton College between 10am-4pm. From kayaking to camera work, from woodwork to wall climbing, there was something for everyone to enjoy. Proving popular were Rocky Roots ? funky band work with Wren music for budding musicians; a recycled art workshop with Steve Newton and DJing and mixing and scratching with vinyl with Eric Stephenson. There were also a large number of sports activities on offer thanks to OCRA including basketball, netball, football and hockey. Youngsters were also keen to get to grips with the woodcarving workshop during the morning and afternoon, where they learned to use the natural beauty of the wood to make art with James Bond. Outward bound activities such as kayaking, climbing and pony trekking were on offer for those who pre-booked places. The range of activities provided also included martial arts and self-defence and trampolining. Young Spielbergs also got the chance to try their hand at video diary, filming and editing with Paulo from Wren. FLAG is an association of organisations in Okehampton that provide services for children and their families. The event was financially supported by: Okehampton Educational Foundation and Awards for All. The event was planned for the Family Learning Action Group by OCRA and Wren ? charities that cater for all ages in sport and music respectively.
