THE SUN shone for the Harrowbarrow and Metherell May Revels event on Monday as the crowds enjoyed the first glimpses of summer.

Schoolgirls danced around the maypole and the boys did some Morris dancing. There was a Punch and Judy show, celebrating its 350th anniversary and various stalls, both inside and outside Harrowbarrow and Metherell Village Hall.

The Arrow Barrows wheelbarrow display team did their take on the Red Arrows and fortune teller Miss Stick Millie was also in attendance.

There were photographs from the Harrowbarrow archive. Children had great fun throwing wet sponges at the 'Shrek' lookalike in the stocks — left.

All the money raised will go towards the upkeep of the village hall. Pictures by James Bird
