THERE was a lot of fun and laughter at Sourton Village Hall when seven brave souls took to the catwalk in aid of the Pancreatic Cancer Research Charity and Exeter Hospice.

Organised by Geraldine Jury, the evening was supported by Edinburgh Woollen Mill, Tavistock, which provided all the garments and Aquarius Jewellery Designs which brightened up the hall with a beautiful array of bespoke, handmade designs.

Geraldine, born and raised in?Sourton, said: ‘It was a great evening, with lots of prizes donated to the raffle by local residents and businesses, refreshments served by Sourton WI members and models from amongst my personal friends and Sourton WI mates. I would like to thank them all for their support.

‘I would like to thank Ross Greig, one of the minority of brave gentlemen present, who masterfully presented each model, described their apparel and made the raffle announcements with aplomb.

‘He did this with the aid of a microphone provided by Jeff Boxall who also provided the music which set the background scene for the models.’

The youngsters present, Harry and James, helped by selling raffle tickets and drawing the lots.

‘At the end of the day, although it was fun, it was all about raising funds for the PCRF and Exeter Hospice,’ said Geraldine.

‘If people would like to swell our offering they can always send a donation to me and I will add it to our takings for them, or they can contact PCRF directly. Their website has a lot of information about this silent killer and the efforts being made to eradicate it. Go to www.pcrf.org.uk
