TWO very different musical styles will be on stage at The Wharf in Tavistock this weekend. Tomorrow (Friday), Ralph McTell, one of the most influential figures on the UK folk scene for the last 30 years, takes to the stage with an ?up close? performance. Ralph McTell first gained fame in 1974 with the classic ?Streets of London?, which went on to be recorded by more than 200 singers world-wide. Ralph also penned and recorded the theme tune of Cosgrove Hall?s adaptation of ?The Wind in the Willows?? a big TV hit. Ralph is on stage at 8pm. And on Saturday, top Metallica tribute band Mentallica visits Tavistock. With more than nine years and 400 gigs behind them, the band has established itself as Europe?s top Metallica tribute band, playing gigs from Belfast to Chelmsford and Cardiff to Glasgow and gaining high praise from ?Big? Mick Hughes, Metallica?s front of house sound engineer. Playing hits from all nine of Metallica?s albums, this will be a treat for lovers of heavy metal. Mentallica play The Wharf on Saturday October 6 at 8pm. Box office: 01822 611166.
