A WEST Devon farming couple have swapped the dairy business to embark on holding fashion parties for the elderly. Husband and wife team Brian and Amanda Giddings from Hatherleigh decided to change careers after their three children chose not to follow them into farming. The couple, both in their fifties, have begun selling Pauline May clothing, a specialist brand of men's and women's clothing designed for the less able-bodied. Since June, they have visited scores of nursing and residential homes throughout the West Country, delighting residents and their relatives with fashion parties, as well as developing the mail-order side of the business. Brian, who was born into a farming family, said he was pleased with the new venture. He said: 'The elderly residents really appreciate the time we spend with them — we don't rush them and like to give a very personal service.' The couple are booked right up to Christmas and are now looking towards the New Year.
