A MAN from Inwardleigh is to cycle to all of the 92 football league grounds in England and Wales as part of a charity fundraiser.
Peter Cooper, taking on the 'Cycling the 92' challenge alongside his university friend David Clarke, will pedal around 2,500 miles to raise awareness and funds for Edgar's Gift, a charity which provides support for young adults between the ages of 18 and 30 who are suffering from cancer.
Edgar's Gift was set up in memory of David's step-brother Ben Edkins, who died aged 25 after a year-long battle with rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare and aggressive form of muscle cancer.
In preparation for their challenge, Peter and David have set up a cycling club at Bournemouth University.
Hatherleigh Primary, Peter's first school, kicked off the fundraising effort with a non-uniform day which raised more than £120.
Alongside his mother Marilyn, he also recently took part in the Silverstone Half Marathon on the Formula 1 racing circuit. Marilyn is also running the Edinburgh Marathon in May.
With the major costs of the challenge having been met, the way is now clear for all money raised to go straight to the young adults who are supported by Edgar's Gift.
If there are any individuals or businesses who would like to sponsor the remaining costs please call Marilyn Cooper on 01837 53305. Peter and David will ensure all sponsors are mentioned in the promotion of Cycling the 92 and Edgar's Gift.
The fundraising team expressed great thanks to Blackacre Farm Eggs of Somerset, who have sponsored the cost of the team's support vehicle. This will be provided by the Motorhome Group, who have given a generous discount on their hiring rates.
