IN two innings Peter Freedman managed 171 not out. Peter made 71 against St Stephens in the Tamar League and 100 against Chumleigh in a friendly. Peter is just one of several youngsters moving confidently into the senior team.
Considering the lack of fixtures the Tamar side scored fluently scoring 239 for the loss of 5 wickets, 4 going to the bowling of Marshall. Mark Warwick hit a confident 47 and three others got going.
St Stephens never got going against some tight bowling. Stokes made 53 before being bowled by Nick Sweet.
All the bowlers took wickets but special mention should go to wicket keeper, Brerton, who stood in at the last minute.
In the regular friendly against Chumleigh, Whitchurch posted a healthy 242 for the loss of only 3 wickets. Josh Sutton scoring a powerful 95 in short time. There was little comfort for the bowlers. In reply Tony Sackfield took 3 early wickets and the visiting side never recovered. Young Julian Faulkner deservedly gaining better bowling figures than his dad. Richard Freedman backed his brother by taking three wickets.
