CAR parking in West Devon car parks will be free on certain days in the run up to Christmas, it was announced by the borough council this week.
All borough-owned car parks will be free on Sunday December 9, 16 and 23. In Okehampton, free parking will be available from 4pm today (Thursday) for Edwardian Evening, while the same applies to Tavistock tomorrow (Friday) for Dickensian Evening.
Cllr Nick Morgan, chairman of the borough's strategic development committee, said: 'We are trying to help traders during the Christmas period and encourage customers into the towns.
'We hope this gesture will have the desired effect and bring people into the towns on these busy days.'
