CALSTOCK is taking its green festival theme one step further this year — a team will recycle everything on site and there will be a cycle-powered cinema in what is promised to be a stonking but sustainable four days of fun and frivolity for all the family.

Now in its 22nd year, the festival it set to bring colour and spectacular to the village from June 2 to 5. There will be music, workshops, dancing, cinema, crafts, children's entertainment and a great selection of comic talent to open the event on the Thursday evening.

Calstock Festival Collective promises a night of unrestrained laughter as Jammycow Productions presents 'Stand Up for Calstock 2011', featuring American comedienne Taylor Glenn, winner of the funny women award at the Edinburgh Festival, Dan Wright, best known as one half of the double act behind CBBC show Big Cook, Little Cook, Duncan Hart, who has gigged with the likes of Frank Skinner and Catherine Tate and Matt Price, a Cornish-born comedian, who is resident compere at the Phoenix Comedy Club in Cardiff.

There will be DJs and live dub from Plymouth Stonebones Collective on Friday night and all proceeds from the evening go to an appeal for a tsunami-damaged Japanese hospital.

Saturday is festival day with a host of local bands, a range of workshops, a children's area, craft stalls, local beers and vegetarian food, a recycling evening and cycle-powered cinema and dance, dub, ska and funk night.

After all that activity, chill out with a veggie breakfast on the Sunday and listen or turn up and play at the open mic session on the green from noon. There will also be a big share lunch and book and clothes swap.

All-day events are free and evening entertainment ranges from £6 to £8.50 with a Friday/Saturday music pass at a special price of £10.

Chairman of the festival collective Stuart Thompson said: 'This is a real community festival and the idea is to keep it as sustainable and local as possible with all the workshops, market stalls and bands.

'For the first time everything on site will be recycled and we will have a special green team to do that.'
