A TAVISTOCK family have appealed for the owner of a fly-away dove to come forward, so he can be reunited with the bird.

A man came to St Peter?s School at Greenlands last Thursday, asking if anyone had seen a white fin-tail dove. At breaktime later that day, the dove was spotted in the playground and caught by a young pupil.

Eight-year-old Alastair Dawe of St Peters has since been looking after the bird at home.

The recapture of the dove has been reported to police, but so far nobody has come forward to report the bird missing and the school have no contact details for the man who visited to ask if anyone had seen the escaped bird.

Sue Dawe says the family cannot keep the dove much longer and will soon have to let it go. They hope the dove?s owner will get in contact in the next few days.

The dove?s owner is asked to contact Sue Dawe on 01822 612202.
