Tiverton U16s 13

Tavistock U16s 27

TAVISTOCK started brightly from the outset.  Early domination by their pack and effective link up play within the backs gave the travelling support grounds for optimism.

Billy Boulton opened the scoring with an excellent element of determined play, powering over to secure the first try.

Tiverton responded well, and scored a penalty to close the gap, following a series of infringements by the visitors.

The visitors were however the dominant side for the remainder of the half but failed to convert their dominance into points.  Tiverton seized on some loose Tavistock play and ran in a try to take an 8-5 half time lead.

Tavistock once again started the second half well but unforced errors led to a further Tiverton try.

Tavistock started to wobble and rue the missed opportunities of the first half, but to their credit, and led by their tenacious captain, Ali Dawe, they opened up the Tiverton defence to allow Monty Burdfield to run in a try which was successfully converted by Ed Longden.

They scored another try through Monty Burdfield, which was converted by Ed Longden.

Tavistock really had their tails up and looked a much better unit with the forwards beginning to dominate the scrum, with Harry Birt and Ash Toll leading the physical challenge.  Tiverton soon conceded a penalty as a direct result of the pressure, and Ed Longden confidently scored from the resulting kick.

Ed Longden charged down the ball in the loose and confidently scored Tavistock's final try.
