MORE than 22,000 forms will be dropping on the doormats of homes across West Devon in the next few days to update the borough?s register of electors.
Householders will be asked to amend or confirm details about the occupants in their home and send forms back ? post free ? so that the information can be registered.
If you don?t return the information, your name may be excluded from the electoral register and you may lose your right to vote. You also may experience difficulties from private companies if you apply for credit in the future.
All electors have the opportunity, while filling in the form, to have their names excluded from the public version of the register, as it will be available for anyone to buy.
The full version of the register cannot be sold to any one person or organisation with the exception of registered credit reference agencies.
Carrisa Allen, West Devon Borough Council?s Electoral Registration Officer, says that if the form is not returned, a reminder will be sent.
If you have not received a registration form then call the Electoral Registration Officer on 01822 813600.
