WITH work due to begin on the long-awaited new skate park in Hatherleigh, the team behind the project is looking to complete an unusual sale to help fund the future of the project.

Hatherleigh Skate Group has been working hard over the last year to fundraise £70,000 to upgrade the skate area into a new open plan street style skating plaza.

Work is due to start next month and volunteers have been busy preparing and clearing the area ready for the Wheelscape team to start work on the plaza.

The metal ramp currently in place is to be sold to raise money for the ongoing maintenance of the new park.

Clare Tyson, a member of the skate group, said: 'In the past youngsters have been fortunate enough to have a stand alone metal skate ramp, but as it would be difficult to incorporate this in the new concrete style it is decided to sell the ramp and use the money towards future maintenance funds.'

The ramp is now up for sale with a price tag of £1,500.

The ramp is only five years old, in great condition and comes in three sections for transportation which can be arranged.
