A NORTH Tawton school teacher retired this week after 30 years teaching in the town. Sally Courtier spent her last day at North Tawton Primary School last Wednesday. She joined the school in Easter 1977 as Miss Hawkins ? returning after the summer as Mrs Courtier, having married Peter Courtier in the holidays. Sally saw many changes at the school during her three decades there and had a range of responsibilities, including special needs co-ordinator, PE co-ordinator and finally foundation stage co-ordinator. She will be greatly missed by both staff and children and will now be spending some quality time with her immediate family, and her new grand-daughter. Headteacher Nick D?Agorne said: ?Sally has been a constant source of inspiration for the children in class one and two in the four years I have known her. ?She has always been helpful and kind to the children and has given much of her life to the people of the town. She will be greatly missed by all.? Sally is pictured above with the special birthday card prepared by the school.
