TWO West Devon musical groups are combining forces later this month for a concert in Okehampton.
West Devon Folk Choir, based in Okehampton, and Flute Cocktail, based in Tavistock, will team up for an evening concert on Saturday, April 27 at Fairplace Church, promising a night of great entertainment. Each group will take 50% of the proceeds raised at the concert. The West Devon Folk Choir will use the money raise to help the sustainability of the group, while Flute Cocktail will use their proceeds to buy a bass flute.
The West Devon Folk Choir, run by Paul Wilson of Wren Music, has a repertoire of material written or collected in the South West, songs from across the UK and from other countries around the world. Many of the songs are traditional in origin and have been arranged to enable exciting and beautiful harmony singing.
Flute Cocktail was formed in 2000 by a group of flutists rehearsing for Tavistock's wind band, Blowzone.
Six of the founding members are still in the group including musical director and conductor Sarah Hunt. With players coming from a variety of backgrounds, their repertoire covers a diverse set of genres including classical and moderm composers, pop music, novelty and traditional tunes, and TV theme songs.
Tickets cost £5 each, and the concert starts at 7.30pm. For tickets call 01566 784340.
