OKEHAMPTON College held its biggest ever careers fair on Tuesday with 48 exhibitors from a wide range of organisations attending. This is the fourth year the college has staged its annual careers fair to give students a chance to find out more about a host of different occupations. The day also helps to assist students in selecting appropriate GCSE and post-16 courses for next year. Students from Years 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13 visited the fair during the day and many of them accompanied their parents to the evening session. Daryll Chapman, acting principal said: ?Society is changing at an extremely rapid rate and, with it, the requirements for the future workforce. It is vitally important that schools keep abreast of these changes and prepare students for the challenges that lie ahead. ?The nature and content of the courses offered at GCSE and post-16 have changed a good deal over recent years in response to these changes. It is important that our students are aware of the opportunities available to them and this careers fair will hopefully raise the ambition and aspiration amongst our college community.?
