KEEN photographers of all ages are being urged to get snapping and enter the ?Love Your Local Food Photography Competition? this summer.

The competition is being run by West DEN?s Good Food Project which promotes local, healthy and organic food in West Devon.

Entries will be judged in September by Times photographer James Bird and owners of the award-winning Dartmoor Inn, Karen and Philip Burgess.

A selection of prizes, depending on the age of the winner, include a £25 lunch for two at the Dartmoor Inn at Lydford, a session shadowing Times photographer James Bird, a session in the kitchen with top local chef Philip Burgess of the Dartmoor Inn, £20 photographic vouchers, £20 WH Smith vouchers, a child? s gardening set, a child?s cookery set, and a tour of Willy?s Ice-cream factory with a selection of Willy?s locally-produced ice-cream to take home.

The competition is open to all age groups with sections for entries by children under 11 years old, aged 11 to 18 and for adults over 18.

Kate Wright, Good Food project manager said: ?We hope people?s photographs will portray and celebrate the fantastic range of local food produced in West Devon.

?It is a very wide subject and we are hoping this will be reflected in the photos with pictures of all aspects of local food: the sowing and growing, digging and picking, milking and cooking, baking and fishing, and, of course, eating, which is the best part of all.?

James Bird said: ?This is a great opportunity for people to get out with their cameras over the summer holidays, to take some really imaginative and striking photographs, and hopefully to eat some delicious local food in the process.?

It is hoped the winning photographs will be exhibited in venues around the district following the competition.

Competition entry forms are available from West DEN?s offices at 5 Canal Road, Tavistock or call Kate on 01822 617399.
