A HOUSING development company is inviting budding photographers to capture the best of Tavistock through a lens.

Taylor Wimpey's competition 'Tavistock Through a Lens', is an opportunity for Times readers to arm themselves with a camera, explore the town and capture Tavistock's places of interest and scenic surroundings.

Ten finalist photographs will be shortlisted from the entries, from which three will be selected as winners.

The overall winner will be awarded with £500 worth of Jessops vouchers, with second and third place receiving Jessops vouchers worth £100 and £50.

Janine Davey, regional sales and marketing director for Taylor Wimpey Exeter, said: 'We know what a wonderful place Tavistock is, and our competition is an excellent way for locals to showcase the town and celebrate why it is such a fantastic place to be.

'We want residents from across the town to look more closely at the beautiful surroundings they enjoy everyday and then capture them through a lens.

'We can't wait to see what pictures we receive and, since there are so many beautiful views to chose from, we're sure the only challenge will be deciding which to capture.'

There are no rules for the competition and photographers can be as creative as they like. The only thing that is asked is that entrants should demonstrate through photography what they feel is the best part about living in Tavistock.

All entries will be judged by Taylor Wimpey after the closing date on Friday April 30.

The top ten photographs selected by the judging panel will be showcased at the housebuilder's Manor Oaks development, off Old Launceston Road in Tavistock.
