MOUNT House School's girls made an impressive start to the netball season, with four teams taking on strong opposition from King's Hall, Taunton, and coming out on top in three of the matches. The U13 A side put in an exceptional team performance to come out comfortable 10-5 winners. The U13 B match saw a quick and confident start from King's Hall put the Mount House team off their game in the first half. However, thanks to some excellent shooting from Hannah Redman and Sofia Oxenham, Mount House turned a 3-6 half-time deficit into a 9-7 victory. Special mention for Emmie de Falbe for her defensive work. A nervous start in the U12s match was reflected in Mount House's play, and allowed King's Hall to dominate the first quarter. After a re-group and some coaching advice, the girls worked hard to close the gap. Despite some very good plays from India Leigh, Emily Redman and Fern Toynton, and competent shooting by Hannah Donne, the Mount House girls lost the match 5-12. The U11s played really well against strong opposition. The Mount House girls dominated the court from the start. Louisa Butcher and Imogen Galsworthy proved virtually unstoppable. A slightly over-confident approach to the third quarter was a reminder to stay focused. Overall it was an excellent first outing for this team, which was ably captained by Izzy Norris to a well-deserved 9-5 win.
