MEMBERS of Sydenham Damerel Methodist Church recently welcomed visitors from far and wide to their Flower Festival 'Down Memory Lane'.
The event should have been held last year but was postponed due to the foot and mouth crisis.
The weekend raised £1,500 — which will be used to pay off the recent organ refurbishment.
The theme of the festival was taken from an historical booklet 'The Lanes of South Sydenham,' featuring the history of the present and previous church.
The event was opened by Mrs May Reddicliffe, the oldest worshipper at the church, and the festival was dedicated by Rev Valerie Honey, Church
Minister.
During the weekend invited organists played and refreshments were served. The memorabilia proved very interesting.
Old photographs and gifts given to past members for weddings and special services were on display along with photos of recent events and outings. An old treasurer's book dating back to 1859 was on show, the last entry being 1987 — a span of 128 years.
