ON a sunny May afternoon, the Dragon Leisure Centre at Bodmin was the venue for round two of the Cornwall and West Devon League for Tavistock Swimming Club, who swam against Bodmin Dragons, St Austell Sharks (hosts) and Kingsbridge Kingfishers. Tavistock again had their work cut out, but managed to gain an impressive five first places and 17 personal best times. Swimmer of the gala was awarded to Sam Harmsworth who, despite feeling unwell, put everything into his races and picked up a personal best time in the boys U15 100m backstroke race along the way. First places were awarded to Kris Chapman (boys U11 50m freestyle), Sam Campbell (boys U13 50m breaststroke), Michael Best (men's open 100m backstroke), and two to Kathryn Stacey (girls' U15 and ladies' open 100m freestyle). Those taking part, with number of personal best times in brackets were Holly Brimble (2), Lea Cantow (2), Harriet Edwards (2), Sam Campbell (1), Will Carter (1), Kris Chapman (1), Tom Crocker (1), Matthew Edwards (1), Natalie Greep (1), Sam Harmsworth (1), Nathaniel Rookes (1), Kathryn Stacey (1), Ella Waddington (1), Ross Williams (1), Matthew Adams, Kirsty Best, Michael Best, Kameron Brimble, Jason Butler, Hannah Greep, Tom Green, Grace Hillier, Cameron McGurk, Charlotte Mellor, Laura Radgick, Kieran Rookes, Catriona Smith, Katie Stephens, Alexandra Stoecker, Elizabeth Teague and Tom Waddington.
