BOTTOM of the table in the Tavistock Social Clubs League West Devon B notched up their first win of the snooker season in a hard fought encounter over fellow strugglers Conservative B. Things started brightly for Con B with in form Dolan overcoming West Devon skipper Gilchrist to put Con B one up. John Rich never looked in trouble while restoring parity for West Devon with a comfortable win over Croucher.

John Rich's father Roger then put West Devon in front again in a good potting frame to edge out Con's B Willson. The deciding frame was also taken by West Devon as Bath mustered all his experience to edge past the post in a 'black ball' game against a spirited Con A debutant Mark Evans. Pulling a consolation frame back, Con A's Kellaway posted his first league victory to overcome West Devon stalwart May.

With both teams looking to kick start their season it was West Devon that can take the most from this encounter while Con B find themselves on the wrong end of a series of 3-2 reversals and not quite able to find the killer punch.
