TAVISTOCK men's hockey first team travelled to Wells, to play Mid Somerset, their furthest away fixture this season.
Tavistock were so far unbeaten away from home, but slipped to their first defeat on the road.
Mid Somerset begun the first half the brighter side, as Tavistock man of the match goalkeeper Mingo was forced into some good early saves.
As the half drew on Tavistock began to probe Mid Somerset, centre back Edwards went close with a snap shot set up by Robson.
Mid Somerset took the lead after a good move through the centre allowed their striker to lift the ball over the advancing Mingo.
In the second half Tavistock upped their game as Heard and Cowen went close, but it was Mid Somerset who scored again from a quick break.
Wood and George pushed forward in the closing stages as Tavistock got a well deserved consolation goal. Some individual work from Cowen set up Bury who crashed in an unstoppable shot to mark his debut goal for Tavistock.
n Tavistock are at home this week to Dart as they look to consolidate their position in the top four.
