FIREFIGHTERS from Chagford were called to extinguish a car fire on the A30 east bound between Woodleigh and Fingle Glen junctions on Sunday, December 30. Two appliances from Chagford and Exeter attended just before 5pm and the vehicle was well alight. The crews used four breathing apparatus and two hose-reels to extinguish the blaze. l Hatherleigh firefighters were called to Buckland Filleigh in Beaworthy on Saturday, December 29, after a property had been struck by lightning. One crew from the station attended just before 11am and confirmed the roof of a detached two- storey property had been struck by lightning but there was no sign of fire.
