WEST Devon police were alerted to the welfare of a 48-year-old man in Lewdown last Friday, amid concerns he had a firearm. The initial report indicated firearms may be present in the house where the man was and a number of officers, including those from the armed response unit, were dispatched to the area. Shortly after police arrived at 11am the man left the property. After police spoke to him he was left in the care of health workers who were also present. No firearm was found.
