CHILDREN from Whitchurch pre-school dressed up as fire-fighters and learned about keeping themselves safe on a recent visit to Tavistock Fire Station.
The children were shown the wide range of equipment a fire engine carries, they played with the water hose, had rides in the fire engines and went home with stickers and fridge magnets.
Judith Cotter, senior supervisor at the pre-school, said: 'It was absolutely brilliant, The two firemen catered really well for the age of the children — they were wonderful with them. One of the firemen even let the children spray him with the hose.
'We're doing all sorts of things at school at the moment to teach the children how to keep themselves safe as part of Child Safety Week and the visit to the fire station made a big impact on them.
'It is so nice to be able to do things like this in the community.'
'The fire station visit stemmed from the children's role play activities in the pre-school and was a memorable introduction to Child Safety Week.'
