FIRE crews were called to a farm in Moretonhampstead on Monday evening following reports of a person with their leg trapped in a tractor.

Crews from Chagford, Bovey Tracey and Okehampton attended the incident at Uppacott Farm at 8.48pm. They requested the attendance of specialist cutting equipment.

The casualty was trapped by his foot on the rear tractor hitch. Crews used hydraulic rescue equipment, lighting and stabilising equipment to release the casualty who was then transferred to hospital by ambulance.

In the early hours of Tuesday morning a crew from North Tawton attended a chimney fire at a property in Castle Street, Winkleigh.

It involved a wood burning stove and the crew used small tools, chimney gear, a ladder and a roof ladder to deal with the fire and make the area safe.
