PICKLES the donkey will make his annual guest appearance for the Palm Sunday service at All Saints Okehampton on April 1. The little donkey, who has a distinctive cross on his back, has been a regular visitor for the past five years and a firm favourite with the children. Rector at All Saints, the Rev Stephen Cook said: 'This is a very special Sunday, when we remember how Jesus chose a humble donkey to ride into Jerusalem. 'We meet at the gates of the primary school then walk behind the donkey up to church for a short family service. 'The children put their "palm branches" down for the donkey to walk over and make him our honoured guest. 'Everyone loves it: especially the donkey, who gets fed with carrots and apples after the service! 'Pickles hasn't been well this year and so we may be having another donkey, but we are hoping the old fellow can manage one more year.' The procession gathers at the primary school at 10:30am and the service begins at 11am. Everyone, of all faiths and none, is welcome.
