IT was a lovely morning on the first tee of Okehampton Golf Club on Saturday, with no rain, no frost and the sun coming up. Although the competitions have been well supported through the wet times, on Saturday there were no empty spaces on the start sheet. The competition was keen and the standard of golf good on the drying out greens. Winning division 1 was Gary Hodgson and Alan Hough with an excellent 47 points, second Barry and Jeff May with 44 points. Lee Carey and Matt Soby gained third place with 43 points on back 9 countback from Ian Wilson and Terry Steer. Division 2 was won by Sean Lewis and Graham Growne with 44 points on countback from Dave Turner and Nick Hobbs. Third were Mike Lang and Steve Gregory with 43 points on countback from Graham and Matt Milford. On Wednesday the ladies played a yellow ball stableford. Winning with a good 96 points were Lin Atkinson, Cherry James and Jane Warren. Second with 92 points were Penny Deakin, Marcia Holwill and Kath Mansell and third with 91 points were Ann Brokenbrow, Mo Huggins and Lorna McCurrach.
