WEST Devon Citizens Advice Bureau (WDCAB) is looking to recruit and train a new batch of advisors in both its Okehampton and Tavistock bureaux.
To help, WDCAB has organised an information day, where interested people can find out what volunteering for the CAB is all about.
Mandy Kenyon, development officer for the bureau, said: 'This is advance notice of our information day in August. We would like people to come and find out what the commitment is, what the role entails and how the training works. There will also be the opportunity to speak to some current advisors and trustees.'
WDCAB recently changed its method of training advisors to reflect the new way in which clients are helped when they make initial contact with the charity.
Mrs Kenyon added: 'We had become known as an organisation where it was the norm for clients to wait for hours to be seen. Our new Gateway Assessment System means that waiting times have been dramatically reduced and many more clients are being helped. These new techniques will form part of the training for any new advisors who come on board.'
The information day will be held on August 20, from 11am to 1pm at the Ockment Centre, Okehampton.
