OKEHAMPTON people caring for sick or disabled relatives can find out what vital benefits and support they are entitled to at a Carers' Rights Day event on Friday, November 29.
Devon Carers is one of hundreds of groups across the UK who take part in Carers' Rights Day, a national awareness day organised by Carers UK. The aim of the day is to inform carers of their rights, benefits and services they are entitled to.
Helena Herklots, chief Executive of Carers UK, said: 'More than two million people take on caring responsibilities for ill or disabled loved ones each year. Their care saves the Government billions of pounds but without the right advice and support it can place a huge strain on families.
'We know it often takes months or years for carers to be told about the financial and practical support available to them. Carers' Rights Day events mean carers can get the essential information and advice they need.'
The event takes place from 2pm to 4pm at Lyric House, 2 North Street. For further information call Carolyn Scott on 08456 434435.
