Devon second XI A
Tavistock seconds v Exmouth seconds
EXMOUTH won the toss and put Tavistock into bat, and things were going well until Jamie Stephens was superbly caught at Gully, and Phil Stephens soon followed yorked by G Greenaway.
Goodchild scored a fine 31 for Tavistock but could not convert this into a big score and at 116-7 Tavistock were looking like to post a meagre total, but a quick fire 30 by James McGahey gave Tavistock a workable score of 164.
The Exmouth reply was steady but slow and by the half way stage (23 overs) they had only scored only 68 — thanks to tight bowling from James McGahey and Simon Gliddon.
Jamie Stephens came into the attack and had Page caught for 37, L Greenaway, M.Collinge and Hall soon followed.
Cross scored a good 50 but before went for a quick single but John McGahey at square leg hit the stump's direct at the bowlers end to run Cross out.
In the last over about Exmouth needed five runs to win. Simon Gliddon bowled two dot balls before A Collinge scampered a single. G Greenaway tried to finish it in one ball by hitting Gliddon over mid off but he was superbly caught by Chris Bray. Ashfaq strode to the wicket he made an almighty heave and got a single and then the last ball all they could manage was to scampered a single, Tavistock had a winning draw by one run.
