A GRAND cinematic event held at Tavistock Town Hall last week was deemed a success by its organisers. The hall was full to capacity for the film show by the South West Film and Television Archive of past events in Tavistock, which included Goose Fairs, carnivals and sports days. The film show raised £750 for Tavistock Museum, which will be put towards the repair of windows in the cottage extension. Members of the museum expressed gratitude to the Bedford Hotel who sponsored the event, to the many local traders who donated raffle prizes, and to Dave Evans, the town hall manager, and his staff. Roderick Martin, secretary of the local history society, said: 'This was the first occasion that the Tavistock Museum has organised a film show and I thank everyone who came for their support. A further film event with different archive footage is being planned for the autumn.'
