I AM amazed at the huge increases in the town budget. It does not indicate any attempt to be economical or to improve efficiency.
The projected increases in certain areas are little short of astronomical. Examples: Telephone/communications 67%, advertising 50%, administration 33%, legal etc 25%, building maintenance 88%. In addition a borrowing commitment II of £7,400.
This is not the presentation of a council that is prudent and efficient. It does not bode well for the future, especially when you consider that 2003/4 figures will be used as the basis for 2004/5.
