Tavistock Ladies Seconds 6

Exeter University Ladies Fifths 0

FROM the whistle the University played some good hockey but never capitalised on their early dominance.

Passmore and Horton defended strongly at the back for Tavistock, controlling the ball and passing with precision out of the danger zone. Evans and Huntington-Whitely moved the ball to the flanks, finding Gawman, who would often drive past numerous players.

In midfield Killingbeck distributed the ball to the wings, and was strong in defence winning numerous tackles.

Tavistock's first goal came from Martin with a reverse stick shot cleverly angled past the keeper. With a lead to build on Mills-Hicks exerted her influence with some neat passing and good tackling. Tavistock's second goal was scored when Firth dribbled the ball into the D and slotted it past the keeper. The next goal came when Pollock found Gawman who quickly crossed a lovely ball for Firth to shoot past the keeper.

Tavistock's second half was a little more  tidy with some good flowing hockey. Huntington-Whitely passed a lovely ball to Martin who touched it on for Gawman to score with a lovely sweep. After Tavistock had applied some immense pressure for another goal, they got their reward from a short corner which Firth slammed home for her hat-trick.

The game was finished off convincingly when Gawman crossed another lovely ball for Firth to score her fourth.

Although the score line suggested otherwise it was a hard fought match, with an impressive  team performance.
