I WOULD like to congratulate the Friends of St Eustachius' who organised the Christmas Tree Festival, which was held from December 3 to 7.
There were almost 50 trees exhibited by local business and groups from the Tavistock Businesses Association, Stannery Brass Band, local schools, undertakers, shops and charities.
The atmosphere was a combination of colour, humour, festive cheer and the Christmas story.
The organist was playing gently and the music created a wonderful addition to the experience.
The prayer tree gave contributors the opportunity to leave messages — one said: 'Please help people to remember the real importance of this time of the year'.
May I take this opportunity to thank the organisers and contributors? I hope that it will be an annual event.
I think that this festival really demonstrated the true community feeling that is special and what makes us care for Tavistock.
I have enjoyed school Nativity plays and carol services; college over 16 awards ceremonies . . . the list goes on.
I hope that everyone has a healthy and happy New Year.
