THERE is always ?lots? of fun to be had at auctions especially when they are for charity. Hatherleigh Rotary Club will be holding its Christmas charity auction on Friday December 7 at the George Hotel Hatherleigh from 7.30pm onwards. The auction has been run for the last three years and all the proceeds pay for the senior citizens of Hatherleigh and its surrounding villages to go to the pantomime. Paul Martin, public relations officer for Hatherleigh Rotary Club, said: ?The senior citizens are collected by coaches from Carmel Coaches who always support Hatherleigh Rotary well. ?The auction is conducted by Phillip Pyle, the local auctioneer and Rotary member. He?s quite a character and adds fun and entertainment to the evening! ?Last year we raised £1,400, our best year yet and £500 more then we raised the previous year. ?We have some generous donations including holidays, pleasure flights, even a trip in a micro light. There are also joints of meat, poultry and many other goods. Rotary members, local people and businesses all support us by donating items for auction but we welcome other donations of suitable lots.? Viewing starts at 7.30pm with the auction starting at 8pm. All are welcome to attend.
